Tamarind Shuttle

Tamarind scan

Fiddleback Tamarind is a reddish brown hardwood native to tropical Africa.  It has grown in many tropical areas of the world for its edible fruit.  If you Google Tamarind, you'll often find images of the spalted sap wood.  The Tamarind I have is from the relatively narrow heartwood.  Most of its charm is from the chatoyance of the wavy grain structure and the effect doesn't photograph easily.

Fiddleback Tamarind has medium texture as the pores are visible to the naked eye.  The grain is wavy and interlocked.  It seems to be nicely springy,  See Wood Terms for an explanation of terms.
