In March of 2018 I got some new Birdseye Maple veneer.  It's very nice, with bigger eyes and lots of them, as seen below:

Birdseye Maple is blond or creamy white in color. The number of "eyes" varies a little. More striking in a big shuttle.

Maple has high strength and is moderately springy. The texture is fine, the stability medium. See Wood Terms for explanation of terms.

Over all Birdseye Maple makes a delightful shuttle, especially for very small ones like 2 inch shuttles. It's one of my very favorites.
