Retractable

  This is a retractable Tatter's Hook. It has a modified #14, #15, or #16 crochet hook mounted in a mini-pen kit, and can be worn as a necklace. The amount the hook protrudes is limited to what you see here, less than 1/4 inch, so I don't recommend it for beading. This one is of cherry, maple and walnut laminated together.
